I love walking around barefoot in the summer. If I am not at work, you will very rarely find me with shoes on when the weather is warm. I didn’t realize, before beginning my journey, the health benefits that walking around barefoot can have!

By definition, Earthing (also known as grounding) refers to contact with the Earth’s surface electrons by walking barefoot outside and transferring the energy from the ground into the body.

I love to go to my favorite beaches to practice earthing. Even if the air is a little cool I kick off my shoes and place my bare feet into the sand. I go for a walk and think all positive, healthy thoughts and really connect with myself and connect with the earth. Some of the benefits found in earthing are:

    • Defuse the cause of inflammation, and improve or eliminate the symptoms of many inflammation related disorders
    • Reduce or eliminate chronic pain
    • Improve Sleep and promote a deeper sleep
    • Increase energy and vitality
    • Lower stress and promote calmness in the body by cooling down the nervous system and stress hormones
    • Normalize the body’s biological rhythms
    • Thin the blood and improve blood pressure and flow
    • Relieve muscle tension and headaches
    • Lessen hormonal and menstrual symptoms
    • Dramatically speeds healing time and can help prevent bedsores
    • Reduce or eliminate jet lag
    • Protect the body against potentially health disturbing environmental electromagnetic fields (EMFs)

This week, take a walk in your favorite outdoor space. Make sure the ground beneath you isn’t altered by any man made surfaces (concrete, asphalt etc) and kick off your shoes. Be still, or take a walk and take some time for yourself.

I’d love to hear more about your earthing/grounding experiences. Please share below of any tips/information you may have.
